NIARTT - General Class License Course

The Northern Illinois Amateur Radio Training and Testing (NIARTT) is once again presenting a NEW Education Collaboration with a few local Amateur Radio organizations.  The Bolingbrook Amateur Radio Society (BARS) together with the Chicago Suburban Radio Association (CSRA) and the Fox River Radio League (FRRL) to presnt a NEW –  Amateur Radio General Class License education course this fall.

This is a FREE 10 week course.  Where you will learn everything you need to upgrade your Amateur (Ham) Radio license to a General Class FCC radio license.

This class is designed for people who are already in the hobby as Technician Class licensed Hams and are interested in upgrading to a General Class license to get more involved in the world of the Amateur Radio.  Although it helps to have a Technician Class License already, it’s not mandatory to just attend this course.  (However you will need to take and pass the Technician Class license Exam prior to testing for your General Class license).  There is no age limit to class attendance.  There is only the need of interest in the Amateur Radio hobby, and a willingness to attend the classes, learn and study.  In class, be prepared for interactive group participation, independent reading and interactive web tools study. There will be a VE Test Exam on the last (10th) week of the course.   Not to fret, if you attend the classes, and study the General course provides you with the knowledge and information you’ll need to pass the exam.   ANYONE is invited to join the course or “sit in” as a refresher.  If you’ve wanted to upgrade your license to a General Class License – Now is the time to do it!

The textbook for the class will be the ARRLGeneral Class License Manual, 9th Edition.   Be sure you have a copy before the class.   Books can be purchased online through www.arrl.org, atlocal hamfests, or other online sources such as Amazon, and Kindle.  Additional study material will be given to you at the classes.  After receiving your ARRL General Class License Manual textbook, be sure to review the book and read the first chapter.  To be ready to dive into learning at the first class and to ask questions.
