Nets & Repeaters

The Bolingbrook Amateur Radio Society maintains two of its own repeaters on the 220 and 440 bands. Our Repeater ID's are K9BAR. The Village of Bolingbrook owns and maintains two repeaters for area Amateurs to use, one on 2-meters and the other on the 440 band.  The Village of Bolingbrook's Repeater ID's are W9BBK.

For Questions about the BARS 220 and 440 Repeaters, contact John, " wa9il at dinacon dot com."

The BARS Weekly Traffic and Information Nets are transmitted on the Bolingbrook W9BBK 2-meter Repeater each Thursday evening at 8:00 pm Central Time.

In addition to passing traffic on issues of interest to Hams, our net has the following features:

Amateur Radio Newsline

Swap and Shop

TechNet
( where participants can ask for help with questions and problems of a technical nature )

All are Welcome to join in the net. You do not have to be a BARS member to participate.

*EchoLink* will be available on our K9BAR 440 Repeater when our repeaters are installed at their new location.

BARS is also active in community service, and uses its repeater capabilities to provide communications for various events and circumstances. In the event of a severe weather situation, SKYWARN nets are transmitted on the Bolingbrook Village W9BBK 2m Repeater. Instructions for participating in SKYWARN nets are given during the net. In the event of an emergency or disaster, listen to the Bolingbrook W9BBK 2m Repeater for information.

Having the additional 220 and 440 repeaters allows BARS the flexibility to run several different nets simultaneously, depending on the nature of the emergency and the needs of the emergency service entities we are supporting.

If you're interested in becoming a net control operator for our weekly nets, contact Archie, " n9zmm at sbcglobal dot net".
